What Does 1 Corinthians 15:57 Mean?
First Corinthians 15:57 means that God gives believers victory over sin and death through Jesus Christ. The victory is not something Christians create through their own effort. It is a gift made possible by Christ’s death and resurrection.
Sin brought guilt and separation from God, while death appeared to be the final enemy. Jesus entered human history, bore the consequence of sin and rose from the dead. His resurrection shows that death has been defeated.
Believers still experience physical death unless Christ returns first, but death no longer has ultimate authority over them. Those who belong to Jesus will be raised and transformed.

The Biblical Context of 1 Corinthians 15:57
First Corinthians 15 is the apostle Paul’s extended teaching about the resurrection. Some people in Corinth were questioning whether the dead would rise, so Paul explained why the resurrection is central to the gospel.
Paul reminds the church that Christ died for sins, was buried and was raised on the third day. He also lists witnesses who saw the risen Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:3–8).
Later in the chapter, Paul describes the resurrection body and the transformation that will take place when Christ returns. What is perishable will become imperishable, and what is mortal will put on immortality (1 Corinthians 15:50–54).
Verses 55 and 56 speak directly to death, sin and the law. Verse 57 then announces the answer: God gives victory through Jesus Christ. Verse 58 applies this truth by calling believers to remain steadfast and continue in the Lord’s work.
