What Does Proverbs 3:5–6 Mean?
Proverbs 3:5–6 means that faith requires more than agreeing that God exists. It calls for active dependence on Him when we make decisions and interpret what is happening around us.
Our own judgment can be useful, but it is never complete. We do not know every consequence, motive, possibility or future development. God does.
Trusting the Lord with the whole heart means refusing to make self-confidence the highest authority. It means bringing plans, fears, ambitions and choices under His wisdom.
Letting God lead also implies willingness to follow. Guidance is not merely something to admire; it is direction meant to shape our actions.
The Biblical Context of Proverbs 3:5–6
Proverbs 3 belongs to the opening instructional section of the book, where a father teaches a son how to live wisely before God.
The chapter begins by urging the learner not to forget wise teaching but to keep God’s commands close to the heart.
In Proverbs 3:3–4, faithfulness and loyalty are presented as virtues that should become part of a person’s character.
